I think they are cool thing and spares come straight from your BMW dealer. I think I saw that bike advertised/ now all you need is the Stars and Stripes decal set and you have one of the best dirtbikes the yanks ever produced. I liked ATKs, I rode a 406 for a bit, flat as a tack power and 4 sprockets where 2 would normally do the job.

Sad to have to say former ATK distributor Bert Flood passed away a couple of weeks ago, A great rider and superior tuner in his own right and father of champion racers Gary and Trevor Flood.
I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

I just fitted a set of new MXM (universal ATK)tank decals to mine. Would have prefered them to have "Made in the USA" where the "Patriot" bit is, but they are otherwise a good quality vented tank decal . My bike has been modified to have the rear disc brake on the back wheel . The FIM banned the countershaft mounted rear disc brake set-up for racing , because if the chain derails or breaks going down a steep hill , you have no rear brake (who needs brakes anyway, they only slow you down  :D). The countershaft mounted disc spins about 3 times faster than a rear wheel mounted one , & is supposed to get really hot & wear out pads rapidly, as well . Mine is an '89 605 electric start model & I hope to race it sometime in QVMX's pre '90 class .

Nothing falls off them.  If anything check the cam drive belt as they can snap if they're old. Mine always start first kick every time. Just run it through to top dead center, pull in the decomp push it just past and then bring the lever back up and kick.  The Rotax motors are over engineered and if you ever pull it down you will be impressed with the internal build of them.  The only other thing is keep your valve clearance a couple of thou larger than the book recommends. I don't have the specs on me at the moment.  The exhaust valve can stick on them if they sit for a while.   Engine parts are very expensive, but most of the old 4 strokes are getting expensive to rebuild anyway.

Really smooth , ran out of brakes (rear )  in 3 laps,I think that the idle was up too high ie no engine brakeing.fell of my 125 and parked the ATK (sore ribs made it hard to hang onto),Handles really well not like a BIG bike at all.
