You just have to always remember to use the decompresser when starting those big Maicos , or this could happen  ;D :

It does look a lot like a factory honda rusty, not many of them around. Has anyone here ever ridden one?

i had an 86 gme 500 , in about 92 for a few years , even 8 years old and ragged around the edges ,was fast , reliable and the only way to ride it was on the power , it was very heavy and very long , and i still miss it ,i sold it to someone in brisbane ,about 11 years ago , due to partner pressure , the rad shrouds were in sheet alum.and one radiator i had made was copper as i couldn,t afford the $2500 for a new one , then parts for it were hard to get and expensive , about $900  for a piston kit

Speaking of them looking like a Honda. I was reading an old ADB lastnight where they had a shootout with a 85 KTM Husky & Maico 250 MX. They bent the Maico, but aparently Maico even admited they liked the look of the RC Honda fuel tank so they coppied it. Probly a load of s**t but who knows.

The 500 gme you sold, did it have a Honda front end on it?
If it did, I ended up with it.

This is what it ended up looking like.
Raced it for a few years in Brisbane.
Sold it on to someone in Victoria.
Haven't heard any more about it.

That's one hell of a nice bike - wonder where it is now?
