Frosty the mock type or the TS/TM250 Oldfart refers to is really only a TS frame. The rest is 100% TM250 ;)

No offence intended here but I really don't understand why people who restore the TM's don't seem so interested in the '75 M models? They were the best of the lot after all and for mine it will become the more collectable in time as it is a model of some significance being the very last of the basic oldschool piston port engines design. To restore a TM250 is not cheap if you wish it to live up to expectations. Conservatively guestimating, plastics and tank, paint, stickers all up around $1000, wheels about the same, engine work say $500, shocks $400, cables $70, seat $100, tyres $200, bearings/chain/sprockets/brakes/ $250, this is not taking into account parts that are missing or need replating or the exhaust, airfilter, ignition, bars/levers/grips but with your initial purchase price of a grand the bike is already into you for $4000 or more for which money you could probably hunt a nice one down that's had all the hard work done. Maybe not the satisfaction but eh, it's all in your perspective. Just a different slant is all but either way you'll still end up with a sweet TM250 ;)

i was told 75 models may have eligability problems in pre75 for rear travel reasons i just want to be able to race pre75 i like to do up my bikes not to live up to others expectations but to have fun in the end the money is not the biggest factor i know a friend who has been bought a brand new kx250 great for him i will still be riding my old bikes having just as much fun i see your point about the price but if you intend to keep the bike it doesnt really matter that much i know my pe has cost alot and i could have bought a good one for what i have spent but it is about the enjoyment i like to work on my own bikes i doubt i will ever buy a new bike i mean who can say they have never overspent on their cars and bikes i enjoy seeing a bit of a wreck turn into a nice bike i prefer to buy wrecks and spend more on them than a already restored bike it may seem stupid in some ways but i have never liked old bikes based on value i liked the idea that i can do up a bike that is 30 years old and still have as much fun as the guys riding new gear and old bikes have so much charecter especially 2 strokes. ;D

Closest i got is a 75 TM with numbers  with in 6 digits. the rest are about 30 -40 out.

we should post all the cases in AU and do a swap- a- thon, and see how many engines we can match to the same frames numbers  :o :o ;D

are 75's pre75 eligable i would consider one if so i just want one i can race pre 75 on is there eligability problems with a 75.

it depends on if the classes are defined my model yrs or manufacture date. if its model yr then NO you cant ride a 75 model but if its by manufacture date then your ok. eg you could have a 75 model thats made in 12/74 and its ok for pre 75 but you can also have a 75 model that is made in 01/75 but its not ok. im not sure of the exact rules.

MOMs now states that bikes must be 1974 MODELS (or earlier)...the old 31 Dec manufacture rule has gone..so no 75 model TM's..the ones with the rising sun on the tanks...OUT.. :)

that makes it simple if its by model yr. so 74 models is the limit :)

Always has been out. its not a follow on frame.  motor is OK if you put it in somthing else as its a follow on.   Frame out, motor is in.
