Husky 500XC - race prep list
« on: December 29, 2008, 09:52:51 am »
HI All

So, with some planning time on my hands, for a change, I sat on a crate with a beer and studied the Husky critically and came up with a few race prep itmes to do:

Clutch pack - any suggestions for replacement plates ?
Footpegs - any suggestions here, as the stockers are worn smooth ?
Forks - reading the YSS site right now.

Best regards

T

I got a set of these from Phillip..
http://www.husqvarna-parts.com/catalog/item/3736740/3373270.htm

Good things. I have done the footpeg widener from Ballards 'though on other bikes. Works well if you can weld. I can't.

My 500xc fix list is new throttle cable and repair slight fuel leak from tank after I had a brain fade and jammed the throttle cable between the expansion chamber and tank... 'DOH!!!!   >:(

Here's mine..

Awesome looking scoot there !

Well, I finally found our resident pipe building expert. Will post a pipe of his custom cone pipes later.
He is busy sorting the stock pipe, the stinger sectioon had been modded in a previous life, the silencer I knew was wrong, I had about 3 days to get something made up before our race, so it worked, barely.

The I need to sort out the sprak-plug thread, strip & clean the forks.
I have gone with a super-thin O ring at the base of the gear change shaft - will test that.

The custom chain tensioner has proven to work, so can now be welded up for extra rigidity.

Side panels and seat base on their way - then its stickers and we are ready.

WARNING !

Seems like we have Team Maico spies in the Husky forum !

Lock down - Lock down.
DEFCON 5

I have just checked, and all of our informants are in place, ready to feed us the inside info on what Team Maico are planning...

Hopefully the exhaust will be sorted this week - pics to follow

The seat base has arrived from DC Plastics - seat rebuild underway.
The exhaust has been corrrected by some experts on this side. In a previous life, a portion of the rear cone was cut off, the tailpipe section was fabricated out of 35mm ID pipe, and the rear stinger had a 50mm core.

The missing cone has now been re-inserted,
The tail pipe section is now the correct 28mm ID (from 35mm),
The stinger has been built with the correct length and core.

They have told me to expect a noticeable difference !
