Zedder software
« on: November 27, 2008, 11:49:21 pm »
went to reinstall my Cross reference software this afternoon and it is now installing a Photo downloader??????  Anyway was wondering if someone out there could have a look and tell me which Yamaha models have a fuel cock assemby similar to the 360B - 322-24500-02-00 - 2 brand new ones leak like a sieve - they dont run a gasket or sealing arrangement and are just metal on metal faces so wanted to see what else was compatible as they run a 14mm 1.0mm pitch male fitting off the tank.

thanks in advance.

cheers

thanks CG but it is 2 of these that I have and they leak like a sieve but at least it looks like across all the models it is the same tap.  It has no seal/gasket arrangement just an internal "flow" director - maybe thats it?

ta - shall keep chasing a replacement.

looks like the 14mm thread is standard for quite a few Hondas - XL's, XR's etc so might try one of those as even after gumming this one up the gas has got to the goo!!!!!

Rosco you need to bend the top plate in the middle so the holes sit up somewhat.  also i have used a washer wave clip to push the tap back when all else failed.

iF you bend the  plate in the middle so it pushes the  body back harder it should work properly, i pulled one apart a while back as it was being silly and somthing got between the 2 faces, on reassemly it still had a gap so i shorted the gap by putting more leverage from the retainer by bending it enough so the 2 screws sat upp and then when you screwed them in  it force the cock back onto the body.

im at work so i cant see it but im sure whatever it was that held it in can be bent to make more pressure on the mating parts.

Freaky have already tried that.  Even went to the extent of lapping the surfaces in and checking them out - got to the point where it was so tight I nearly couldn;t turn the tap and it still leaked.  You cant even buy the little rubber centre section (which directs flow) from Yamaha.  I have chased  up Penglin (I think thats right) as they make fuel taps but dont go below 18mm - so will try Honda tomorrow if the missus lets me out of the bedroom  ;D ;D

Sorry- renovating that is!!!!

cheers

Somthing dont sound right there ross, i got at least 5 of these Yamaha taps on bikes and they are as old as shit and dont leak a drop.

you mentioned rubber ? if these are both new units take out the Rubber disk section and soak it in petrol for at least a week.   Maybe just maybe there is a swelling you can get in the rubber to pick up the slack.

if you cant get a rubber centre just cut one out of push bike tyre, so long as it has a hole in the centre it will flow juice, or get sexy and use some kind of paper oil gasket.  this can be fixed for sure.

Failing that post them to me and ill have a look, if you cant get them to work anyway, you havent lost anything by letting me have a look.
