Agreed about the WR500 from DDR. Where are they getting these bikes from, are they importing from the US?

I believe that they are bringing container loads in from the States . But you wouldn't think that would be all that lucrative at the moment , considering the exchange rate . Maybe they bought them when the dollar was good & stockpiled them .

Just checked out his site, he has some seriously strange pricing $3200 for a 93 kx 125.....and it sold. $5500 for a 93 wr 500 yammie.....and it sold ??? ???, you could pick these things up on ebay for 1/2 that price.

Gotta love that waterpumper Husky 500, if it was black the kids would be missing out on christmas pressies this year, dads just spent all the spare cash ;D

I've wanted one of those for a LONG time so I've been in and had a look. Your kids are safe mate. She's ROUGH! Basically needs a total rebuild. So for 4.5k large he can keep it.  ;D  Unless I have some massive windfall in the v. near future... Santa? Santa did ya hear me? Santa....??

Yeah, you see some pretty nackered husky's on US epay. I submit that some bikes may not be "sold" when they are indicated as having been so and if sold, often for well less than advertised. I have seen proof of this.

Hey, should'nt that DDR watercooled CR500 also have an Ohlin rear shock, as apparently it is some aftermarket brand?

Looks like an Ohlins shock to me . Just has a different sticker on it . I think that the sticker reads Devol . Didn't they make aluminium radiator guards ?

That's an ohlins shock alright, and as 500 evo said it's just a devol sticker.
They made aluminium bits for off road bikes, rad guards, disc protectors, bash plates things like that.

hi. i have a '84 wr500 which i am interested in selling. The bike has had a ground up re-build and has had approximately 2 hrs running since. It has cr500 forks and shocks. Motor and gear box has been completely re-built. Bike is located in Cairns, asking price $6500. Photo is attached.

I've got an '83 CR500 Husky stored in a mates shed in Los Angeles waiting for some more stuff to join it to make the shipping as cheap as possible. I paid $500 for the bike in pieces with Simons forks which I onsold for a grand making it a really good deal. I got the bent original front end with it so they're now on the bike so it can be wheeled around. With the $500 profit from the forks I bought a C&J flat track roller to suit an XL/XR500s.  The nickel and Ceriani forks are rusty but it's got a Barnes spool front wheel and for some reason, a Champion tank and seat. It's rough but will scrub up with a bit of TLC. I got a spare Husky XC 500 engine with CR500 so I may see if it'll fit the C&J for a bit of dirt track action in the future. Not a bad deal for 1000 bucks total outlay.

I was browsing through a French website recently & came across an image of a modification that had been done to a Husky 500 cylinder , by a French Canadian guy in Quebec , to fit a Maico 490 style decompresser  . This mod would be very helpfull to guys that are having trouble starting their 500 Husky or for guys that are a bit soft , like Harro , for example  ;D . I read  ( although the translation is a bit hard to understand using google translate ) that he originally tried the decomp. in the head , but it let too much of the charge out & wouldn't allow the motor to start . He eventually fitted the decomp. halfway between the level of the top of the exhaust port & the top of the liner , which would reduce the compression by about one half. I'm sure that there would be some other sort of decompresser that you could use in the head that would be more restrictive & only let a small amount of charge out though . I was thinking of doing something similar to my CR500 , as I have changed my primary drive ratio by using a fourstroke clutch basket , which has more teeth on the ring-gear    (& less on the primary gear) . This gives me more revs of the motor through the stroke of the kickstarter , but also obviously requires more force to move the kickstart lever . It also gives a fatter spark when starting , because the flywheel is spinning faster .
