Electrical question??
« on: October 01, 2008, 05:40:04 pm »
I'm trying to sort out the electrics on my XR500R.
Generally speaking I've got everything working - all but one part that is not working as I think it should - the tail light.

when the brakes are applied the rear lights up one (of two) elements in the bulb really brightly.
When the head (and tail) lights are on the other elements lights up as you would expect.

However when the the lights are on (i.e. the tail light is on) and then the brakes are applied, the tail light element fades and the brake light element glows only a little bit.

I can not find an earth problem, it doesn't seem to be a problem with tail light unit itself and I'm buggered if I now what is going on.
So I turn to the wise old head and see if someone can help

The Romans didn’t build a great empire by organising meetings.  They did it by killing anybody who got in their way.

All people are your relatives; therefore expect only trouble from them
