KTM front brake assembly - twin leading shoe
« on: April 30, 2021, 06:24:50 PM »
Hi KTM gurus!

Do the larger KTM 250 or 420/495 bikes run a bigger front diameter twin lead front brake drum compared to the 125s? I have what I believe is a 125 front brake and it is only a tiny 130mm drum diameter approx. I expect the larger bikes run a bigger brake? Can you tell me what size drum diameter the 250 or 420/495 use? Would it be 160mm?

Thanks

Hey PEZ the short answer is no. Same twin leader for all bikes. Someone sometime told me it was a copy of the Yammie one. Have never used one myself as I went the disc way on my 85 250. I guess it is how, why and where you ride as to your preference in brakes. Sorry for the bad news, hope you come up with a satisfactory solution. Cheers Bill

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks ozktm for the confirmation. I hear the KTM twin leading brakes worked quite well and could stop the 495 monster so should be OK for my speed 8)
