Damper Tube and Spring Identification
« on: September 03, 2019, 02:21:22 pm »
I removed these parts from two different pairs of 42mm forks with the 1981-1983 length chrome tubes and fork sliders.

Flipped over:

What year Maico fork is the damper tube on the top from with 8 holes total (3 + 2 one side and 3 other side)?

Bottom tubes appear to be stock '81 with 6 holes (2 + 1 on both sides)

Is the top spring 25.5" in length a Maico spring? The forks I pulled them from were same with top damper above. Setup did not have soft stop springs installed.

Bottom spring appears to be a stock '81 and measures 23.5" in length.

Thanks for help!

HI GT350,  Refere to the Maico Service Bulletin  7/82 .  It will show the changes made to the Forks.

Changes were made from Alpha 1  490 As of Frame Number 353 1575.

There is also some other Mods that were done to the Works Bikes Forks .

But at the present I do not have the information available.

Does anyone have a link or copy of the 7/82 Maico Service Bulletin they can post?

HI GT350,   Send me your own Email Address as the File / Folder is Large and is on a Format that is hard to copy and send.

Also there is some Factory Technical information on 250 Square Barrel/Radials in the Folder that I wish to keep conferdential.

I will have to Edit it out of the File / Folder.
