if it didnt have a compliance plate fitted stock, then easy answer is no.

Hard answer is its still possible  if you can get it  certified for compliance  or prove it has been registered in that state previously.  Contact the RTA first and see what hoops you will need to jump through and have your chassis number and any documentation to prove your case handy so they can search it, Helps if you have an "experienced" person like a supervisor assisting you as grumpy counter staff will just say no way.
You may get lucky and slip through the loop hole if you cite it as a later model  that was complianced but that would be naughty  ;)

I like the sound of that club rego  8)

No comp plate on the 77 Jimg1au
I have been through this several times,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
As far as I remember PRE August 77 manufacture,,, no compliance plate = NO PROBLEM IN NSW.
AUGUST 77 AND ONWARDS IN NSW MUST HAVE COMPLIANCE PLATE......

And I refuse to believe otherwise unless you show me in black n white and ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

May 74 for 4 wheeled tin tops.

NSW historic club rego is ~$100 first year, includes the plate cost, then ~$45 per year. But add on the membership cost of the club you must join. You get all your club rides, other clubs rides that are advertised to your club, any ride sanctioned by your club registrar plus (if ypur club is particpating) 60 days per year on a log book (sheet) system.
I've read that bikes that are iffy for normal rego have done a year on historic rego then transtered to normal! I've not known any one do it but maybe its possble?
The trick I guess is to dodge the need for a blue slip, because I assume this is where you'd get unstuck.

They can and were registered in NSW.

No Compliance Plate Needed. Just have to be sure that the Frame/ Engine numbers are in the Roads and traffic data base.

Helps heaps if it was registered new. Helps even more if you had the original rego papers.

a mate and I got our TT500D rego'd by fitting all that was needed and the dealer who sold us the bikes pulled a favour from the inspector who said ill do these but don't bring anymore in as there not allowed to be rego'd. because where I live in nsw is closer to Adelaide then Sydney all bikes/parts came from SA main dealer pittman Yamaha and they were sending D model IT175/250's with SA rego on them as it was still easy to get them done and the owners were changing to nsw rego once the 3 months were up but you had to wire in a brake light switch as IT's didn't have one fitted.
