I 'm assuming that all were happy with the event.. usually much more "traffic" after a Nats.. this and that.. I'll say that the "combining" of the pre 75 age groups to be all capacities..instead of being 125 , 250 and open class..I understand that with the inclusion of Evo there is less time on the day ..and congrats to the Ararat guys.. 50 races on the Saturday is well done..but to have the age group races as just one.. not good IMHO.. Happy to discuss

Another 36 races for capacity age racing. Same for Evo.
That’s 72 more races. So you want 147 races. Not gonna happen

Perhaps the post '78 classes could be moved ( back) to the Post Classic event.. seeing the Evo classes at an event that has Pre '60.. just doesn't seem to fit.. the Evo classes have more in common with the Post Classic bikes anyway..maybe then there would be enough "interest" to actually hold that event.. given it has fallen over in recent years.. that would then free up some time at the Classic champs.. and it could go back to having capacities within the age groups ..just a thought..

How could an aircooled, twin shock, drum braked bike not be applicable !!!!!  As the old guys that raced Pre 60's bikes die, of course participants at 'classic' are going to reduce.

I think Post Classic events should drop Evo, and keep it classic only.

My opinion, everyone has one, not always going to be the same as yours.

There were a total of 58 riders entered in the 125, 250, open Evo classes.  Some rode two Evo capacity classes and other categories as well.

Evolution is an extremely popular class & belongs in the classic titles. Without evolution the riders numbers would have been ordinary at best. It's up to the hosting clubs as to how they run the age groups & it's been done successfully both ways in years past. The hosting club decided to do all powers age groups in this instance, in attempt to award the largest number of Australian titles they possibly could. Of all the classes at the event, only 4 did not reach the required competitor numbers to attain title status. This would have been different had there been age group capacity classes. I'm an average rider & rode a 350cc bike in evolution 50-59 all powers, finished 6th overall out of 24. I went past bigger capacity bikes and am sure their were smaller capacity bikes ahead of me. I also rode a 400cc bike in pre'75 50-59 and had a couple of good battles with a guy on a Honda CR125M. Engine size doesn't really matter & if you got a place, you know you earned it. It's impossible to keep everyone happy, perhaps BMCC will adopt the age group/capacity class way for 2019.

Evolution class has to stay in the Classic era. It was a master stroke including it there. It has guaranteed the survival of that era. I would not be surprised one bit if they get 200 entrants for the 2019 Classic Nats.

He’ll of a lot more difference between a Evo ( Classic) bike to a Pre 85 ( post Classic ) than there is from a Pre 78 bike to a Evo bike. A couple of inches taller being the only difference.

In 2014 at the Port Augusta Nats two guys on Pre 78 125 bikes scored second and third fastest lap times over the entire weekend. Was no electronic timing these Nats but I’m pretty sure that another two guys in Pre 78 125 would have podiumed in any of the Evo 250/500 races. People aren’t faster because they have more horsepower. Most would be slower because of it.
