Maico 490 Corte Cosso Shock Rebuild - Contacts
« on: January 16, 2018, 11:08:51 am »
G'day fellas,

I have a set of Corte Cosso rear shocks that need to be sent off for a rebuild.

Who is the person to speak to regarding this?

Cheers!

I also have a set of Corte Cosso's to be rebuilt, I have heard that Ohlins internals go straight in, and that Paul Stacker is the expert to see.

I used the standard CC shocks on the last MC490 I raced with RM400N/T shock springs. They were pretty good. RAD shock repairs in Brisbane can sort them for you.

Pretty sure a friend with quite a few Maicos had that done here in New Zealand, definitely had a mono shock upgraded that way

I have a set built by Rad-QLD ten years ago. Bigger shafts and some other ohlins parts. Wasn't that dear
considering not only are they the best shocks ridden on by me and all who have ridden my bike too.
They are still in perfect mechanical order. No leaks no wear in seal head bush!

The only thing they couldn't get at the time were the new rubberized flexible eye end bushes in that size.
I finally replaced those myself last year. I was able to find some that were close then Machine them to required spec. I would throw up some pics if I knew how.

The experience has left me collecting discarded Mega2 Corte Cosso shocks now.

Thanks guys! A few options there. Im in Perth so looks like its going to be a case of boxing them up and sending them interstate.

YSS - I do plan on racing the bike this year and I am 80-85 kgs (incl gear).
