YZ Clutch Cover on DT1-RT1 cases
« on: May 23, 2017, 09:39:05 am »
I think someone gave me the answer here years ago, but as with a lot of things I forgot.  Will the YZ A-B clutch covers fit on the DT1-RT1 cases?

don't know but 1 way of checking is by the part numbers on the clutch cover gaskets, same numbers = it will fit.also check kick starer seal numbers in case they changed shaft sizes

Thanks!  :)

Gasket number is the same (308-15461-09-00), but different KS oil seal numbers (93104-20007-00 vs. 93101-20048-00). :-(

Maybe I will order both seals to see if the difference is shaft diameter, mounting hole size or depth/width.

yeah there's always something  different when trying to fit parts from a different models but ask Iain Cameron on here as he's got a lot of early 2t yammies and would know what interchanges between the different models

The clutch covers fit the bolt pattern and gasket but the kick start shaft is different on the YZ.If you don't change it,the cover cracks around the seal when you tighten it up.The DT/RT shaft can be modified by making a new groove for the snap ring further in.I think it was about 1/4 inch but I haven't done one in years.I hope this helps. If you can't figure something out let me know and I'll pull one of mine apart to see the distance.

There are two ways to fit a YZa or b cover on a DT or RT . use the later D/RT kick starter I think its a DT2 or RT2 one or you can use a 6mm alloy plate cut as a gasket . If the motor is early DT1 with the gear shaft through to the right side you need an early YZa with the through shaft option or change the shaft to a shorter one .
