Old school road bikes ?

My '96 Suzuki Bandit is eligible for the local vintage jap club now apparently.

It's equipped with ATS, and I thought it was pretty good.
I was getting passed by Adventure bikes at a recent track day.
Then a rode a new S1000RR.

Vintage it is then.

I'd love a Z900, the bike when I was an impressionable 10yo.
So far I've managed a very cool 1/6 model. (Purchased from the Nabiac motorcycle museum.)
It would make the Bandit feel modern, I'm sure.

bandits are still quite capable yes its an old design engine and little changed in the entire series , thats because it was good. i like classic bikes and have a thing for Guzzis and suzuki GTs, Currently pedaling a 955 triumph that handles like a bucket of mullet but damn that engine is smooth and can run most things down unless you need to mortgage the house and sell your first born to service them.

 I will  have the strumpet out on sunday leading a ride with a heap of sports bikes and wearing a huge grin.

The police caught me on Mona Vale rd in Sydney - didn't end well, was arrested and thats another longer story that saw me survive the H2. On the funny side of things - while in the cell at Pymble Cop shop I was just sitting there when over the wall came a copy of the pink pages with a whump when it landed on the floor. As an attitude adjustment right there and then it worked well - 17 and shitting myself

The S90 looks like super fun!

Rode a S65 for quite some time when I was a teenager, can't remember if top speed was even 100kph but sure was fun trying to get there
Next bike after that was a Suzuki T500III fitted with a 750J front wheel, much faster & would love to get it back. Biggest problem with the bike was the minimal charging capacity, if I remember right the output was 12V 3A meaning the lights used more power than generated. Dad's $20 GT550J was much better for riding at night

Got a couple of RZ250Ns myself. One on club reg and the other two in bits in storage.

Havent ridden it for a while though, but good fun. Bought the running one in '86 was a used '85 model.

My every day ride is a 1991 Kawasaki Zephyr 750...

Cool bike. I've always liked the Zephyrs. My mate bought a new Zephyr 1100 back in the 90s, and lent it to me when he went overseas for a couple of months, it was a fun bike to get around on.

a mate picked up a VX 800 Suzuki a few years ago and we gave it a quick clean up , wheel bearings, fork seals and a few globes etc and got it regoed.. was a fun bike to ride, comfy, sounded good and with the shaft drive was smooth.

I've got a '77 GS550 in the shed, I reckon it'll run if I clean the carbs. Gotta get them out first though, airbox and intake boots are rock hard.

gotta clean the carbs?  gotta completely rebuild them as all the jets are blocked with cement..the diaphragms are toast and the airfilter has crumbled halfway into the carbs.... dontcha just luve old bikes

I rode the S90 in a Birdwood Classis a few years ago. On the way home, I rode down the freeway to get back to the inlaws place in Adelaide where I had parked my ute. As the speedo was a stuffed I had my GPS fitted and was using it as a speedo. At the bottom of the steepest descent down the freeway, just before entering the Heysen Tunnel, the GPS was showing 97kph. I was quite disappointed as I was hoping to break the magic 100kph mark, but Such is Life!

It's good to hear the old road bikes have a following as well. I managed to pick up this 1982 GT750 a couple of weeks back & it's a little heavy but I'm happy. Sorry about the old bloke in the pic, he was just happy to be riding lol Jimson
