Filling plastic tanks

If the PE tank doesn't come to the party brent and it's hard to find another .
 I have seen the PE400 with RM400 tanks fitted and they look good but I say they won't hold as much gas.

A 250B alloy tank holds .9 of a liter less.
You would move the seat back by 35mm though.

If you are talking about PE250B, well they hold more not less. 12L. Same as 78 plastic tanks. Although i have come across some later 1980 tanks that held odd capacities between 11 and 12L when they were supposed to be 10.6L. I think the factory may have slipped a few left over 78 12L and 79 11.5L tanks onto some of the T models. Even 'Le Canari' in France found this with a few of his tanks too.

Clarke MFG could make a lot of money reproducing the PE tanks, but they wont even do 81-84 RM250/465/500 tanks even when many people contacted them. I don't know why. They have any competition. We just need to get them to see dollar signs somehow.

Brent the leak on the underside at the back is probably from the pipe they often burn under the back of the tank pipe side and the airbox sometimes melts on the top as well where the pipe passes through you could lift the tank by putting some spacers on the front mounts wouldn't take much and just sit something on top of existing rubber frame mounts sometimes a couple mm is all it takes.

You will want to check all these little things especially if you are changing a tank that has previously burnt split etc especially pe tanks for example if its been flipped it could have bent the end of the pipe down on to the airbox or twisted in to the tank where it s bends between the tank and airbox.

Your right about the 250B one Leith,,,,,I just measured the volume of mine and it holds 12 liters easy,,,,12.3 if filled to the bottom edge of the filler neck. That' the trouble with WWW,,,,so much misinformation

It would be a pain to measure my 400 tank.
It was in top condition,,,so I filled it with cheap engine oil and boxed it up from the light(into storage).
From memory though? 11.5 rings a bell,,,,,, did right it down somewhere?? ?? ?
