Confused -YZ250A crank ROD
« on: January 03, 2017, 08:30:36 pm »
Am i correct ?
original part # 431-11651-00-00 as per prefix on frame and engine,  superseded to 311-11651-00-00  DT Model ?
I believe there 125mm long. Not to be confused with the 360 that is 130mm long. Yamaha part list is very confusing.
Can someone enlighten me, and steer me in the right direction with a replacement.
cheers

Mick - have you spoken to Ray - I believe there is a later model rod - 80-90 that fits the 360 with mods - maybe Ok for the 250 - can't hurt to ask.

The later rod that is 130mm long has a 25mm pin. I think the YZ has a 24mm pin, but I could be wrong as it was a few years ago that I did a crank for one.
I had a quick look through the rod lists and couldn't find anything at 130mm with a 24mm pin. There is one a bit longer which may work or you could machine out the wheels to suit the 25mm pin.

not sure that the pin size is entirely relevant because by memory my RT2 360 has the same rod as a DT1 [might be wrong], but the 360 had a bigger pin by 1mm but the 360 roller assembly used smaller rollers so it all fits in. 360 stroke is longer [pin sitting further out in the wheels by i suppose 6mm stroke difference 260 to 360, so rollers are going faster rolling so use smaller rollers [does that make sense--] In saying that i've got a 250 with a 360 crank & a 360 with a 250 crank--experimenting--so now i'm realy confused--& old.
