Hey big k, I saw that flip of yours , after pulling and pushing a few bikes out I stood at the top of the hill and watched. Felt a bit guilty but I'd done my bit. Great to see you had a go at it.

My first time also and what a blast.

Another great weekend at Harrow.

This is my first video with a helmet camera of the Saturday track following Serge (Mr Girth  ;D) around the track on his PE. The camera angle is a bit low.

Thanks to everyone who made the weekend possible  :)

What a great ride!

I had a ball on the XT250. The course was super-wet in places, but heaps of fun, and brilliantly set out. I clipped a tree in the 'special test' and my little finger ached for teh rest of the day. Not long after that I got a heap of wire wrapped around the back wheel, but it was easy enough to get rid of. I only got bogged once, but it took three of us to get the XT out of the slop. It was about where the KDX is parked in the pic below. I paid my dues by hanging around and helping a couple of other bikes through before setting off. A little while later I helped a guy lift an XR that had fallen over on a hill upside down. Later I stopped and loaned a brake lever to a rider in need. Harrow is an adventure man, you never know what to expect around each corner!

Quote

After completing a long loop I decided to head out for a short loop. 170 or so bikes had made their mark, but the course was still thoroughly ridable. At the fuel dump I met up with my CT125/185 riding mates (one of whom flew down from Brisbane to ride Harrow after a 20 year absence from dirt bike riding) and we returned to base at a relaxed pace together.

It's always great to catch up with people, and make new friends at Harrow too. The countless conversations, jokes and shared experiences are part of the magic.

Our- State of origin team "Victoria's Better" Harrow weekend had a great come back to the little town of Harrow after a year away.
We spent Saturday carefully running in my bike- 1982 WR430 Husky and Rob's 1980 Suzuki PE250 after both bikes getting a fresh can of compression earlier in the week.

Sunday came around and we were the 3rd team to leave on the frosty and foggy morning. Being in the first group of riders the bog holes weren't too bad, the special test was pretty tricky to follow. I got a bit over excited on the open sections and guess what, i seized the husky again  :'( Again i let it cool down and waited for the old man to catch up and then got a push start and she fired back into life. So from there on in i short sifted the husky and took it pretty easy.

We finished the first BIG lap and came back into the camping ground to have a feed and do some running repairs. I raised the needle on the husky and added a bit more oil to the fuel even though i was already running at 25:1 So we lost a bit of time doing all of this.

The second BIG lap was easier in spots and a lot harder in others. Poor Dad buried the DR400 and took 3 of us to free it in one hole.
Then Rob managed to smack a rock strait into his rear chain guide and bend it to the point it was pushing the chain off the rear sprocket. So we lost a bit more time straitening that out.

We all managed to finish 2 laps each of the large loop and giving us a total of 8 laps for our state of origin team- Not sure how we didn't win this?
Anyway we then stayed Sunday night and enjoyed a few more beers and BBQ.

Here's a bit of YouTube footage with a couple of pictures of the fun and games at the end of it, enjoy.
Cheers Dewy.

Well done.

Apparently points were allocated for a number of criteria. For example, Queensland picked up extra points due to the distance they travelled to the event.

The State of Origin thing is first and foremost a bit of fun, just like the whole event. Remember it's non-competitive, so having a trophy based solely on performance wouldn't really be appropriate.

The committee took a lot of factors into consideration, not just lap tallies. For example, as a judge I was very impressed by the fact that the Queensland team wore ties to dinner on Saturday night.  8)

What I was NOT impressed with was the amateurish attempts at bribery. Seriously, if you're gonna do the brown paper bag thing, do it properly! One team passed on a bag that had already had the cash pilfered and was empty (double corruption?); while a NSW team slipped me a brown paper bag with something inside that I can't describe on a family oriented site (no idea how they got that in there)!  ;D

Yep. The Tolmie Beards won the club team award. The State of Origin went to the ACT, with Queensland a close second.

Not a problem TEX, We all know the power the ACT have on getting things there way. LOL. No hats off to them it was a huge effort to get 4 bikes and riders around the BIG lap course. We will hopefully see you all at Castella at the end of the year.

On another note YouTube has seemed to of done something screwy with my Harrow movie? It's meant to be about 20 minutes long. But stops at around 8 Minutes area? Anyway I've deleted the first 8 minutes and will try uploading the last half as a separate movie.
Cheers Ryan

Link to Part 2 of my footage with the annoying bit of mud stuck on the lens. There's some good pictures at the end of the movie if you want to skip the rest of the special test section.
