Getting a rubber stop off a car shock, splitting one side, at an angle, then superglueing back together works well as it sits inside the metal cup. If you want to fit the new one correctly then you have to pull the shock apart, hold it at the bottom, then unscrew the eyelet end. If you want to do it the quick way, clamp the shaft in a vice, I can hear the howls of horror already, where the bump stop is normally and put a large screwdriver through the eyelet and unscrew. They can be very stubborn and may turn in the vice so hit the screwdriver with a lump of wood. Any damage to the chrome will be covered by the new bump stop. Rough as guts I admit but I have done this numerous times without ever damaging the shock. Dont think yours has it but be aware that the rebound adjuster rod goes down the shaft but I have never crushed it, yet. I have actually tried to on an old one that was buggered and still couldn't crush it.
