the constitution when no one knew what the constitution was or even where it was

If a paid up member you are entitled to copy, if club is INC look on line at Govt dept and read constitution

Myself and  the other members received a printed A5 booklet  'Classic Scramble Club Rules & Regulations' in the post last September. This is the version of the Club's constitution currently on file with Consumer Affairs Victoria.

Immediate past president and life member Stuart Young, not the current secretary, was responsible for sending them out.  As mentioned by Gippslander, the R&R's are also available on the Club's website.

Stuart Young was at the same meeting I last attended and he was the first to oppose any constitutional rule changes based on the fact that none of the members knew what the constitution was at that time. I voted with Stuart and was labelled an argumentative prick by a couple of committee members.
The constitution of the CSC may be available for all to see now but for a while there it was like the holy grail only available to the knights of the round table. Rod Mac wouldn't bring his copy from home as he didn't want to lose it! No one told us members that we could view the document on line.
It's a great thing that the members are now being provided with facts about the inner workings of the club and the new committee should be commended for their work on clearing the air.
Who knows, it may be just whats needed to entice lost members back to the club........
Arrogance.....A way of life for the those that having nothing further to learn.

The CSC is obviously going through some internal issues at present. This really is the concern of its members only. Does anyone really think that playing this out on a public forum is productive for anyone. I am really sorry that a long standing and great club is having issues and I am sure some people enjoy seeing this played out in public but for the good of an important club why not apply to the appropriate department for a copy of the registered constitution and follow it to the letter. The constitution and the clubs by-laws should not be confused. I know nothing about the club but playing this out here can only do long term damage to the club.

This is posted in good faith to hopefully defuse a  deteriorating situation. The constitution should give clear guidelines to navigate through this.

I think it is good for it to be played-out here, there are many ex members and never have been members that would like to know the story; would never know about it if not told here?

At the last CSC meeting the committee postiion of Publicity Officer was created and I was elected to fill it.
Part of the  job description is to provide accurate information about the Club and to reassure everyone that riding members with a direct interest in the Club's core purpose are running it.  Shedding light on a situation where there has been a precipitous decline in Club membership, competitor numbers, finances and administrative due process is part of rebuilding.

In principle, I agree.

But I'm pretty certain that this all needs to happen publicly. The problems usually grow when they are hidden behind administrivia - exposing them to sunlight kills them off.

I agree. The activities of the club should only be the concern of club members and it isn't really necessary to have club business discussed in a forum. If someone is really interested then attend a meeting. But I do understand that there are delights in watching soap operas!  :)

Not sure the speculations would be a good thing John. We've all seen what happens when too many 'interested' parties have input e.g, rules discussions, how to run race meetings etc.  I'm sure that the final story will be revealed in the fullness of time.

Mmmm maybe Paul, I've been thinking about sourcing a Pre 75 bike so that I could ride some CSC events; I hear some crap though the grapevine that makes me hesitate to be involved.  Getting the full story aired by both parties helps me understand what is happening.

After all the thread is listed under a CSC title for all those that would like to know more about it?  Personally I am not driving 3 hours to a meeting to maybe only get one side of the story; I hope to hear both sides here at least.

Fair enough John. The main point at the moment is that you don't need to be a member of CSC to own a pre75 bike or to race it and that CSC is still running great events in spite of any club politics. If this changes that's a different story!

That is my point it is not their business.  This should be dealt with by current members as the constitution stipulates. Not my concern but needs to be done in a manner that allows members to resolve it, not ex-members or bystanders to muddy the water

The club is open for members of the public to join, if there is no law or club regulation that prohibits the airing of club business then I'd like to know what's going on in the club before I go to the expense to join the club.

If members do not have anything to hide; let it all air; after all we are all mature vmx'ers  ;-)

Except that these problems live in the shadows, as we've seen elsewhere.

While there's a fine line between an open discussion and a kangaroo court, open forums like these are pretty much the only practical way to get an open dialogue happening, particularly if one party has more control over the information available to interested parties (and I don't mean internet gawkers).

The CSC secretatary [snip.  Admin] severely limits the flow of information to club members and often in flagrant breach of his legal requirements under the Association Incorporation Reform Act 2012.

Try viewing the Register of members.

Part 3  TABLE OF PROVISIONS

18 Register of members

Section (2)  Any member may, at a reasonable time and free of charge, inspect the register of members.

Applicants receive a point blank, no reason given refusal when this basic right is requested.

This is one of the reasons he is being asked to show cause by the new Committee.
