Hey Tim,
I read a piece with Travis Pastrana where he described the most dangerous part of practicing in a foam pit is being trapped under the bike - fuel flowing from the carby overflows surrounded by 100 cubic meters of highly flammable foam. Talk about an accident waiting to happen. By the way, they use small cranes to get the bikes out… [and fast!!!].
There are actually companies now advertising in Dirt Rider [etc] selling the foam [which is offcuts from the furniture industry]. Make your own fire hazard at home.
Re the front flip: the guy that does it talks about how scary it is to get to the top of the ramp, lean ALL THE WAY FORWARD and then grab a BIG HANDFULL OF FRONT BRAKE. It all sounds impossible, but how long until someone does the double front flip. I suppose it doesn't really matter how many riders are hurt [only joking] doing this stuff, because there seems to be an endless supply of tattoed, pierced, hoody wearing, almost MX champions willing to take their place. Not this little black duck though!!!
