1987 XT250 Shock Linkage bearings
« on: September 24, 2015, 12:32:45 pm »
I was given a 1987 XT250 earlier this year. The bike is a bit rough, but quite fixable. Like all these old bikes with linkage rear suspension, the bearings have never been greased and are flogged out. I have had a look on the web to see if Pro X or All Balls do bearing kits for this model, but have been unable to find any listings.

Does anyone know if any of the other Yamaha trail bikes share the same linkage and swingarm bearings?

I don't really want to use genuine Yamaha part if I can, as the cost is just so high it makes the entire rebuild unviable.

Why do things the easy way, when with a bit of effort you can really make it difficult for yourself!!

Maybe check the genuine part numbers against the part numbers that you can buy linkage kits for?

I've got a wreck at home. No idea what condition the linkage is in, but I'd sell you the whole linkage for less than an Allballs kit is worth (if they're any good!).
The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.
