NEW PROJECT... What have you got!!!
« on: July 24, 2008, 11:13:28 am »
Hello I am chasing a new project after finishing the VF capra, I am after something a bit intresting. I don't mind spending time chasing parts and or doing a spot on resto. . I am just seeing what people have that is sitting at the back of there shed waiting a resto job that they would like to part with for the right price of course....... I am open to pretty much anything but I guess I know it when I see it, I am also no against the idea of a clasic road bike. For prices ect. PM me...

Looking for anything in particular?
I have been thinking of down sizing for while and getting older 1920s/40s bike for club days yet never seem to do it. If anything I keep buying dirt bikes.  :) Looking for something like this. Shed find.

I have sat on Douglas DT with a 500cc motor it is in the birdwood mill it belonged to my grandfather.... It is in a glass case and I have only sat on it once all I can say is the early stuff is so dangerous this thing has an open fly wheel and everything.....It apparently was raced by a lady by the name of Fay Taylor here in aus. I have lots of old Dirt Track photo's and dinner menu's from the south australian dirt tracker clubs dating back to I would say the 20's.

Now back onto what sort of thing I am chasing, I will have to say I am leaning more to 2-stroke however I would still like at the 4's. I am just after something a bit diffrent, I do have a soft spot for CR's but I must say I want something to resto. So I know people have things waiting to reto. I just wanting to know what they would be willing to part with for a new project for myself.

Thanks heeps for that pic runutz698
I believe Fay was a lady well beyond her time for racing and it wasn't of course the done thing in those days for ladies..
Fay found it very hard and I also believe these where reasons for her to not finish her career/time in racing.
It still happens today, some women are only just allowed into some Bowling clubs and clubs in country australia.
Like kids, should be seen and not heard. ;D  ;)
cheers Alison

Alison, can you post you avatar pic of Fay Taylor up for us all to see.

Fay was banned from riding speedway in the early 1930's when the speedway board banned all women from the sport, wonder if it was because she beat a lot of blokes ;).
