Hi all loking at one of their bikes  anyone dealt with them  good or bad stories etc cheers leigh

If your in Oz and are contemplating getting one sent over then forget it.  I did it last year with Jason at East Coast and luckily that was when the dollar was nearly on parity.  Payed $1000 for shipping and thought that the fee covered most everything.  CaroTrans and Mainfreight conspired to work another $1000 out of me before they would release the bike.  It was all a nightmare...

If you want to bring a bike in from the US, speak to Darren Cheney. He is a great guy, won't BS you and he will make it happen. Has been in the freight business most of his working life, and is a VMX bike expert. 0488 188 827

Seen a few of EC VMX bikes that have arrived here & none of the buyers were happy. Bikes look & sound good in the adds, but there's generally no full disclosure, things like painted plastics (including plastic fuel tanks)& plenty of rust. Once again, ask the hard questions before you buy, but IMO it would have to be something rare that you really wanted to have to even consider any bike from USA (not just theirs) with the exchange rate where it is. There are plenty of bikes here in Oz to buy.

I did the same thing 2 years ago with EC VMX. Even though he said "free shipping to any east coast Aussie port", My cheap $1500 resto project turned into a $3000 pile of crud that is only good for parts. He advertised it as a good runner in need of some TLC. Bike arrived with different shocks and clapped out wheel hubs, stripped bolts, cracked inlet manifold and more. He wouldn't reply to my emails or phone messages after the deal (or should say, rip off) was done.
Never again!

Thanks for the replies  just had  a total hip replacement  so got 12 mts  up my sleeve  before I can ride again ( hopefully)  looking pre 78 bike  saw the rm 370 they have  looks nice in the photos  mick is probably right better of buying in oz at least I can see the bike in person cheers leigh

They do a damb fine job of reanodizing the rims, spoke nipples & valve stem while the tyres still on.........

The rim job is impressive Kev, presumably your options are only limited by the number of colours available at the local hardware store. Maybe the practice could be called "rimming" j

I bought a bike off Jason at East Coast Vintage a few years back and paid the $900 shipping only to have extra costs once it landed in Sydney which I expected but not the amount I paid. Customs and the Port authority hold you to ransom until you pay their fees and I failed quarantine checks so the cost just keep mounting up. If you buy go with someone who ships it end to end with no middle man. Should expect to pay around $2000 including freight at both ends.

The bikes looked better in the photos than in the flesh and Jason was good to deal with until I struck problems my end ,after that he didn’t respond to any of my emails or calls.
I would buy local so at least you can have a good look at it. Still doesn’t mean it not going to have problems. Good Luck.
