"Conditions are perfect," reported Drakie this morning. He's been out with some VERi club members checking out the tracks this week. We just need some more rain in the next few days to keep it at the optimum condition, which I think will happen.

It might sound obvious, but it got a bit cool riding around in drizzly conditions, so chuck in a spare pair of gloves and a waterproof jacket for the weekend.

For anybody making the late dash for a Sunday entry, VERi will have EFTPOS available (well, dependent on phone service!). It'd be very handy if completed entry forms could be presented to the hard working and notoriously short tempered staff at the sign in - you have been warned! Its also not a good look having entrants brawling over a single working pen..........

I know most of you who are planning to attend the Beaufort Vinduro are hoping for challenging conditions i.e; wet, muddy, slippery - a real test of man and machine! Unfortunately conditions are disappointingly mundane with no dust, great traction and top trails. Sorry. But it might still be prudent to pack in some shower pants in case the weather becomes more interesting.

The course will cover approximately 120klms with four sections, the longest being the first at about 40k's. There will be fuel dumps at the ends of sections one and three, so make sure you have two fuel containers if you'll need to refuel.

We have also been assured by the arrowers that they have performed their duties in an exemplary fashion. Their names will be available on the day to those who think that the section setters have been a little generous with the descriptions of their own prowess!

This one is shaping up nicely so if you are thinking that you might like to ride - then do it!!!!

Yep, I can confirm that conditions are currently primo!

It's a long course, with plenty of smooth flowing trails, but you will need to keep your wits about you as there are some slimy rocks, protruding tree roots, and 4WD wheel ruts that can catch out the unwary.

Section 1 also contains some "interesting" downhill bits but I was able to tackle everything on a twin shock DT125.

VERi will of course accept entries tomorrow, and on Sunday morning, so if you haven't entered yet but are keen, then by all means head over to Beaufort for this unique event.

I was too busy attaching arrows to trees to take many photos, but here's a taste of what can be expected...

Mighty DT125 takes a breather

Glorious views available pretty much everywhere!

Some wide open trails for opening up big bores

Twisty, overgrown trail... I loved this bit!

Important notice!

In a VERi first, a special arrowing system has been implemented exclusively for GMC and CanAm370. We ask that these two riders ignore all other signs and only follow the ones as shown below:

Everyone else should follow the standard course markings.

Punters have been rolling in all day, and we are expecting more to arrive tomorrow, so it should be a good turn-out overall.

The practice track has been put to good use, although one rider had a spectacular crash which shook him up a bit and bent his bike somewhat  :-\.

As the light faded, and campfires started appearing at the Raglan Reserve the usual bench racing sessions got underway, with many people making sure they got plenty of fluids into themselves ahead of tomorrow's long ride. The boys from Sth Aust in particular were onto it early, and their dedication to the fluid intake regime is to be commended.

Some pics from today:

We're looking forward to seeing your go-pro footage

These bikes will be away first in the morning...

There's still time to enter he 2015 Beaufort Vinduro - Tour of the Pyrenees if you are keen, just turn up to the Raglan Reserve early tomorrow morning!

Overnight downpour changed the nature of the track somewhat, but certainly didn't dampen riders' enthusiasm! Entry numbers received a late boost, with several people arriving this morning to sign on. The end result was a healthy field of riders, on the usual variety of bikes.

First rider back was Phil who was #36, so he must've been flying!

Everyone I spoke to thoroughly enjoyed the course, even those who didn't complete the whole thing for one reason or another.

On behalf of VERi, thanks to everyone who turned up and made this event another success. Thanks also to all the volunteers who made this complex event work, club members and otherwise.

The locals seem to be really enthusiastic about the event too, so it should only get bigger and better with time.

This PE250 picked up some mud, but still looks sweet!

First back was this Yamaha, note the empty "energy drink" bottles from night before
