Reed v Canard, part time officials, F1 and more.
« on: January 19, 2015, 08:52:26 pm »
I thought this might help divert from the endless eligibility debates.  :)

Take note of @crtwotwo's tweets at the bottom.
It seems both reed and rc complain about consistency in rulings/rules

Not a particular Reed fan, although I respect his skill on a dirtbike:

I don't see that as being worthy of a black flag. Canard's move was more dangerous. Reed's move was aggressive, but not a deliberate take out and Canard could have avoided crashing.

Reed probably deserved a reprimand, but it should have been decided after the race - taking him off the track mid race, means weighing up all the evidence, passing judgement and handing out the penalty in a matter of seconds, without any possibility of recourse if the judgement turns out to be not perfectly correct.
The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

And rightly so .... Chad was black flagged for taking matters into his own hands.

Trey Canard made a mistake, but it was just that a mistake (a racing incident)

Chad's action was blatant retaliation and not in a corner.  It was also right in front of the officials.

Had Chad got going first or Trey not been going slower when he took off it would not have happened.  Chad could have gone past Trey and pulled away easily, but he choose to run him off the track while he was straightening himself out.

Had it occurred with them both at speed later in the lap in a corner I'm sure he would not have been black flagged.

Blatant retaliation is not going to be ignored. Also the officials (FIM and AMA) got to see it live and then a replay (on a big screen) straight away.  They also apparently didn't want it to escalate more during the race so choose to stop Chad.

I do feel sorry for Chad it was just one of those situations.  I hope he can get over it and concentrate on racing.

Canards pass was never on (not on that particular corner) Chad, with the possibility of his best result this season going out the door simply had a moment of insanity. Should he have done it..no. Was it amusing to watch..yes ;D

Chad's line going towards the corner would have taken him to the outside berm, leaving room for Trey to take him on the inside quite legitimately.  Chad, having been around the traps for 'a bit', tried to fend this off by cutting to the inside over the jump just before the corner.  Pileup unavoidable as a result, but to me, no-one was to blame, given the above, so Chad was out of line (metaphorically).  Mind you, I'm sure he thought he'd just give Trey a small fright and a minor bobble, not a stack.

From where I was sitting (in front of the TV), there was no way known that Trey was going to make that corner without taking both himself and Chad down. He had a major brain fart....simple as that. And i really think that Chad did the same thing, no doubt induced by the serious neck/back injury he sustained in 2013 and what could of happened to him again. Trey should of been penalised for dangerous conduct endangering life and Chad should of been let to ride on and given an extra point for taking out his foe..... Nah, trey is a good guy from what I can tell and I doubt he was intentionally trying to take Chad out. It was a pretty ordinary move though.
Arrogance.....A way of life for the those that having nothing further to learn.
