How to tell piston sizes
« on: November 16, 2014, 05:56:40 pm »
A couple of questions for you knowledgeable people

1. Changing the rings and piston on my 89 CR125 and need to find out the piston sizes. How do I find this out?
2. The current piston has one ring but it seems they also some with two rings. Is there a reason?
3. There is a tiny bit of cross movement on the connecting rod. Is this normal?

Cheers

The standard bore should be 54mm and will be nicasil so it can't be bored out unless it's been re sleeved. The standard piston was one ring. From my limited understanding there are pros and cons of single vs double rings, but I'll let someone with a better understanding go into that. It is normal to have some cross movement, if unsure get someone in the know to have a look.
