"    Can I camp Friday night?

Quote from Mick D;

Yes Mick, arrival Friday and camping OK, but I believe gates closing at 8pm
It will be pitch black, Friday the 24th is a New moon, No Moon

There is a fifteen foot drop on one side of the camp site access entry, easily visible in daylight,
 but as a precaution the property owners don't want first time users negotiating it in the dark,
  hence the gates shutting at 8."

is there an altenative overnight camp area for late arrivals?

It is up to the land owners and the neighbouring properties that have welcomed us for the weekend.
It is a dairy farming community who are to bed early and up early.
It may be possible on Friday night Noel for those who are considerate, to be arriving late past the neighbor's residence, after a long journey.
I posted notification of 8pm gate closure upon request from the land owners.
I supplied the owner with a new role of fluro bundding to tape off and mark out the the drop off, which is as obvious as nuts on a bull during daylight.
They are also concerned about anyone returning much later from an evening of in town drinking.
They do not want anyone that has been drinking, to be driving on their property or the gravel access road past their neighbors. And that's fair enough too, safety for all is the name of the game. They want this to be a safe fun weekend for all.
There will be plenty of room around the communal campfire for those wishing to relax a beer or two,,,or three ;D
So bring a chair.

The land land owner also said the gate would be back open at day break.
