Most late model 125/250 ignitions can be adapted. Post 97 CR 250 has 12v output so you can run programmable ignitions. The ignition curves are what you should look at.

Would this cause a conflict because of rotation? The companies listed only offer CR500 replacements. Could an '80's KTM 500 replacement be adapted?

May not be legal for old bike racing, but I'm always racing it
Perhaps you could somehow use your stock stator and connect it to a more modern CDI
I have a YZ80J ignition on my TM125 and it's a big improvement, easier starting, better performance, better idling.
