Favorite Intermediate Soil Tire?
« on: August 10, 2014, 12:51:41 pm »
What is the favorite intermediate soil tire Down Under?

I used to run Dunlop D756 tires front and rear, on my bikes here in California, but have switched to Bridgestone M403/M404 since they discontinued the D756.

Can't go past a Pirelli MX Extra. I also used 756's until they were discontinued

The best is the unknown IRC M5B Soft Terrain
Brilliant as an Intermediate but will tear knobs at high speed on Hard Terrain
Unfortunately the IRC Fronts are average except the M1A in Sand
And the VE VULCANDURO 6 ply

^^^ plus 1 for the IRC M5B, brilliant tire, massive knobs that dig in. Use them in winter on all my bikes. The VE's are good for bikes that use 17'' wheels.

The M5b has serious knobs. Ive found them to wear decent.Hook up great.  Maybe they seem like a heavy tire to me because they look so big

If cost isn't an issue, I would use a soft tyre... they may wear out quicker.. but boy do they hook up..something like the new Dunlop Geomax MX32.. brilliant.. you have to replace more often.. but for a one off..like a Championship event.. great..

I bought two of the cheapest tyres I could find for the Husky to Vinduro on and they are still excellent after 3 harrows, numerous other rides and the Hopetoun fling... and they are...front is a holeshot st and the rear is a vee rubber. highly recommend them on a budget

Michelin SX12, in ANY conditions. They'll chew out mighty quick in the dry but it's worth it  ;)

should get another harrow out of the front... ;) the rear is going to be tested at blackwood.... it may be discarded afterward. ::)
