Thought this might be an interesting thing to look at & no disrespect to the real ANZAC's (hence different acronym) but another aknowledgemnet of the achivements of our small but great countries down under on this kaotic planet punching well above our weight  ;)

Australia New Zealand absolute champions

Criteria is "World Champion" 2 or 3 wheels (no cars), current or past, so lets start with a few & I am sure others can add plenty more to the list (with or without wikipedia). Lets see how long the list goes  ;)

New Zealand
Ivan Major - world speedway champion 1968, 1969, 1970, 1972, 1977, 1979
                - world long track champion 1971, 1972, 1976

Shane King - NZ, world 500 MX champion 1996


Australia
Wayne Gardner - world GP champion 1987

Troy Bayliss - world SB champion 2001, 2006, 2008

Jason Crump - world speedway champion 2004, 2006, 2009

Troy Corser - world SB champion 1996, 2005

Ivan Mauger's name is spelt as I just did.  I think Barry Briggs also won Speedway Championships.

Matthew Phillips  World Under 21 Enduro Champion

The AMA Supercross Champs is recognised as the World Supercross Championship by the FIM has been for almost ten years.

All this is without recognising the riders who got second or third.  Gregg Hansford was one of the best ever.

Not an official World Championships  The Yanks call everything they run a World Championship.  They think the Indy Car drivers are the best open wheel drivers in the World and the NASCAR drivers the best drivers in the World.

Nigel Mansell went to the US and won their Championship first try and was called a rookie.

Don't get me wrong the Yanks are good but.
