Wanted a 79/80 Kawasaki KDX400.  The better the condition the happier I'd be.

I want to do a resto job on the bike so as authentic as possible.  I've found in the USA but not sure I getting it here (Perth).  Any suggestions?

I think both these have a terminal in Freemantle.  There are usually plenty of ads in Unique Cars.

There's a guy on the Gold Coast with a KDX 420 and KDX450 for sale, there doer uppers.... I think they are on evilbay. You would more than likely have to import a bike if you want one [KDX400], not very common here.

The 420 is gone, it may have been sold.

No good though if you're looking for twin shocks which the 400 has  :)

As far as I'm aware, there were no KDX400A1's brought into Australia in 1979, apart from one offs to build hybrid 400cc MX bikes etc.

I know 8 x KDX400A2's were brought in by Brisk Sales Kawasaki in 1980 though.  (I think it was eight)

The late Gregg Hansford taking some time off from bitumen to play in the dirt in 1980.

And a complete new KDX400A2 brought along as a donor bike.

There will be A1's out there, but I think all will be imports.

It took me a while to work out who the two other riders are beside Donny.  Is that Gary and David A.  Is the track Maryborough or is it Tivoli?  The tower looks like it is Tivoli.

Why weren't you at Conondale Tony?
