Riders against depresson
« on: June 06, 2014, 10:21:55 pm »
From time to time I check progress on the "Riders for Depression". Must say after all the initial interest and positive comments I'm disappointed at the lack of donations. The cause is way off the target they hoped to meet. Dig deep forum members, this is a very worthy cause. Every dollar counts. A one off donation surely won't break the bank. Maybe that trick part(which probably won't make any difference anyway is more important)

Yes it is disappointing, particularly considering most of us know somebody thats been affected by this insideous condition. We spend hundreds of hours thinking about bikes, working on bikes and riding bikes, and spend thousands of dollars on pursuing this passion. To help less fortunate mates takes about 5 minutes to log into Everyday hero, and a small amount to contribute.
I sometimes think the Aussie ethos of mateship which our nation is so proud of, is dying away, however I'm trying to keep the faith.

Hi Lewis, we've had small collections at Gloucester, Qld CMX titles and CD10, but way below expectations.

due to the lack of interest I would have gotten depressed and given up. Keep up the good work.

Heaven members and club will be depositing the proceeds from the last two meetings shortly. Sorry for the delay. I need 26hrs days ::)

Collected from riders and guests (I have put approximately as I don't have the exact figures with me)
Gloucester meeting approx $130
Bulahdelah meeting approx $150

Heaven VMX Club have also chipped in $500

We would like to offer a friendly challenge to other Vintage MX and Vinduro clubs to consider something similiar.

Again Supersenior50 sorry we have dragged the chain with the deposits.

In staying with the fight against depression theme for us older guys specifically, Heaven VMX also donated $400 to the Men's Sheds at Bulahdelah and will do the same amount at Canowindra when we visit there later this year. Those communities open their arms and welcome us each year.

Umm there must have been two collections as I have your collection container with $130+ dollars in it.

Shoey is a great guy so maybe he also made a seperate donation :)

Correct figures
Gloucester $109
Bulahdelah $161.35
Heaven Club $500

Total from Heaven members to date $770.35

This thread keeps drying up and it seems such a worthy cause particularly considering the demographics of our sport

Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far.
I'm about to set up a Facebook page - should be done by the end of the weekend.

And if anyone is interested, I'm planning on taking the KDX down to SA for the 24 hour trial in a couple of weeks. (Not 100% sure about the lights, hence "planning").

The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.
