Can me if I'm wrong but as a strategy (perhaps unintentional!) the 'description' is generating plenty of traffic towards the item. Any advertising is good advertising they say! :-[

Not to defend old mate's stupidity, but I think a lot of sellers forget that potential buyers don't have the thing in front of them... They know all about it, so they assume that everyone else does too.
