Interested in a Victorian Classic Dirt / Bonanza type event?
« on: March 05, 2014, 05:32:51 pm »
Okay we're just looking at forming a Steering Committee for those interested in putting together a Classic Dirt / Bonanza type event here in Victoria.

We are not looking at taking anything away from the events currently run, we feel that you can never have too much vintage dirt  :-)  We are comfortable with the feeling that a state can handle two such events a year; after all who wants to wait a whole year to pass to drag the exotica out again?

Many riders/owners do not wish to travel interstate (Vic's especially), so I'm sorry if you are one of those that feels that you have to take in everything nationally.  We will fit the event into the calendar so that it does not conflict with any major vmx events in other states though.

This event will be run within 30 min's North of Melbourne, it is envisaged that this will be a two day event, with practise riding on either Saturday or Sunday or both days, (weather pending) on a vintage friendly grass track.

This will be a back-to-basics event, we will be asking riders/owners to pre-enter (probably up to about one week before the event.  Costs possibly on a 'donation' basis, for riders and viewing puplic, to cover costs like - toilets & flag marshals etc.  There will be camping, interstate attendees will be welcome to set-up on the Friday before the event.

As they say 'many hands make light work' so anyone that would like to be included in the preparation for this event would be welcomed, we are looking at having an evening get-together to discuss planning at either the end of this month or early April, at the venue about 30 min north of Melbourne.

We want to make this event applicable to CSC, VCM, Viper & VERi members or anyone that has a 'pre 2000' enduro/trail or motocross (or scramble) bike.  So PLEASE get involved, please drop me an email at [email protected] and I will co-ordinate everyone for the coming meeting, thanks.

PS, we don't even have a name for it yet.

Sounds interesting John. Have you identified a venue? Are you considering a Vinduro loop and if so were you going to talk to the VERi guys? J

Thanks for the reply, I've had three inquiries already tonight regarding vinduro, I think it is a great idea, I guess I haven't mentioned anything yet as not knowing what property we might be able to use to satisfy enduro riders but it seems we might be able to line something up  :-)

So Pre 2000 mx & trail/enduro come on down!

Good idea Johnny
Scooter News could help you with the advertising of the event
I love the 'pre-2000' cut off (have a few projects suitable for that) and the show and shine aspect, the talking/socialising and the riding.
I look forward to the Bike Bonanza every year and if it's a mini one of them I would be able to get my fix twice a year

Sounds great!
The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.
