Well, it's now just a few weeks until the 2008 Classic DT Championships here in Canberra. The local club have been putting a lot into this event with particular attention to making the track just right on the day. It should be a top weekend - it's a fun track to ride and spectators have a great view from the top of the circuit.
From what I've heard, entries have been pretty slow. Remember, closing date is only a week away (14th August), so you should get into gear and send that entry away right now. You can download the supp regs/entry from the DT Championships page here:
http://www.ozvmx.com/whatson/08-dt-nats.htmBy the way, if you don't have a national licence and want to use a one day competition licence, you'll need to get the paperwork in asap as MA require 21 days to process. If you add that to post times and other admin overheads it means you probably need to send in your entry and application right now to avoid things going pear shaped.
Even I (notoriously late enterer) am going to enter today. Haven't got a going bike yet, but hey, whats a national event without getting the bike finished the night before? My big question is, do I have any competition in the Pre 75 125cc stakes? Now, given my DT riding ability extends to being able to actually complete most of the laps in a race, and I am on a TM125 that has so many things changed on it that I have no idea if it'll even go, I'm kinda hoping for no other entries. Anyone racing in that class?
I guess that Mr Meyers will be riding in every class they have, so he *might* be a source of competition. I'll make a public plea - Dennis, wear a NEW jersey!!! I have photos from races in 2002 where you were wearing that rotten old blue one.
Wish I'd kept one of my TT500s, I'd love to have a ride in the support class too. Still, it'll be good to see a whole bunch of the old thumpers out there on the track. Any takers for that class?
By the way, I've heard they are trying to organise decent temperatures for the day. Hope they have some luck with that!!!
