RIP Fast Freddy Richards

Fred Richards passed away today.
 He won a few VXM titles in the 90's a was bit of SA Enduro gun in the 80's and early 90's.
He was a all-round nice guy and travelled every where with his ol mate Clarky looking after his Yams.

I was only thinking about Fred the other day, wondering if he'll turn up at Port Augusta. Fast Fred and Clarky were the Laurel and Hardy of VMX, as well as being a pair of skallywags, Fred was a gun racer and Clarky an ace tuner plus they both had an insatiable thirst and a non stop attitude to fun. He'll be sadly missed.

He was a great all round bloke. Used to love going to 4 days with Fred many years ago. Remember Fred and I getting told off by our state team manager once. We were outside our room night before day 1 having a few drinks, it was about 2-3am!!!!

Our team managers at the 4 days back then didn't really understand how to enjoy your self on or off the bike. Ol Fred did and was always faster than most blokes half his age and loved his bench racing afterwards.
Everyone that knew Fred and Clarky would a have a story to tell about them.

 Goodbye Fast Freddie, your friendship was something I will treasure until my time comes too. Seems the adage of three score and ten is in the ballpark for a guy who lived as large a lifestyle as you.
Fred and Clarky were inseparable and could be found anywhere in Australia at vintage meetings and they loved roughing it outa the F100 in the early days. They called a spade a spade and most of their humour was a result of this and was a constant in their company. A thick skin was an essential .
A visiting Swede in 1995 called Fred (the fastest 50yr old in the world) after he beat him for the Aussie title and it was an accolade that stuck.  R.I.P mate.
