No shelpi Yamaha numbers don't work that way . All early Yamahas start with xx xx101  so the first bike off the line will be xx xx102 . Iain

When getting production numbers its best to use the model numbers the DT2MX is from memory 324 and the RT2MX 322 . this 3 digit # is model unique eg the 68 DT1 trail bike is 214 . From 74 Yamaha used these numbers in eng and frame numbers . You have most probably got fed up with my ravings so Ill sign off . Iain

According to my list there were two number sequences for the 1971 RT1-B (black tank/red pinstripe) 73101-75128 which I don't understand as it doesn't even follow on from the previous 1970 RT1 (black tank/yellow pinstripe) which ran from 50101--57218. The second group of listed numbers for the RT1-B are RT1-009101--024820 which would make yours the 9th RT1-B off the production line. There's a zero missing from the beginning of your number sequence but that may have been lost in translation. Can you check again? If right, you've got a very early 1971 RT1-B piston port.

Thanx Firko, no typo, so it is a very early 1971 RT1-B piston port, black tank red pin stripes, did check and the number given is correct,
I am still after a bottom end for it

So that explains the two number sequences for the RT1-B. To be honest I've never heard of a close ratio RT1 but I guess this info tells us they exist(ed).
