The main reason I retired from my trade was my boss being a proper dickweed. I figured that life was too short to take directions from a bloke with a fist full of diplomas but no shop floor experience or seat of the pants, street smarts. He took little or no notice of clever tradesmen with decades of experience, opting for expensive and over complicated new age fixes on simple old school problems. The mass exodus of experienced tradesmen from a number of different trades (I was only one of 9 or 10 who bailed out) in this blokes first year should have set off alarm bells with upper management but they were dazzled by his techno bullshit for another two years until he got caught out receiving kickbacks from suppliers and contractors.

Ive been my own boss for most of my working life either as sole business started at 21 , a large business ( that went horribly wrong !), or indipendant contractor  ( management).
I now work from home for myself again and have the best life I have had , the only problem with being your own boss is time you need to be disciplined to it and you don't get 4 weeks of it off a year like wage earners. So i guess I still have a boss  TIME. and lack of it is a prick!!
If in doubt ,WIND IT OUT

Over the years I have had some top bosses & some real pricks, didn't last too long with the latter before snatching it,My current boss is Ok most of the time but can distort the facts to suit his agenda at times (AKA lying his ass off ;)),I work for a national company now so there are unseen bosses everywhere who come up with great new ideas from behind there desks, they don't ask us at the coal face if it's workable or not, just do it my way >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
