Trick CZ triple clamps
« on: September 05, 2013, 11:04:28 pm »
Although they're beautifully made, I think these billet triple clamps are illegal for Pre 75 by our rules...What do you think?

These are the clamps I ended up purchasing, they were $375 + shipping from San Jose area in California, use your existing stem, they make Husky and Honda clamps also I believe

I believe that triple clamps are treated the same as swingarms and therefore for them to be legal they need to be a replica of clamps that were available back in the pre 75 period. While I really love the engineering involved if I was the scrutineer I'd knock them back.  The only genuine period aftermarket clamps I've seen are ProFab items made for Husky and Reeder adjustable billet clamps made for dirt track.

CZ Guy in the states makes double pinchbolt triples using original clamps cut and welded on top of each other.Says they were definitely using this setup back in the day.A lot cheaper, not billet and should squeeze past scrutineering.

I've seen Pete's clamps in the flesh and they're pure art. Come to think of it, Kristy's Astro and all of Pete's bikes are works of art.

Thanks Simo,
I made them on a nice little 2 axis bridgeport when I was working in the states a couple of years ago. I now have my own 3 axis Microcut mill that is all wrapped up in a container waiting for me to finish building my shed. I will be churning some goodies out then - I expect to be personally responsible for a world shortage in aluminium ;D

Bazza and Mark - not sure about CD10 as I'm still in Vietnam and I have another company that wants me to go straight to China to help with some problems that they have up there. I'll know more next week,

Pete.

How come our brothers in the road racing fraternity get away with stuff like this and we cant.

Hi,

Double bolt lower triple tree clamps are 1975/76 standard CZ fork mountings, and are pre 78 legal
does anyone have proof of these billet sets being used or available before 75 .

cheers

Doubt they were available pre75 but they are legal in the states along with a lot of other parts that would be frowned on in both Oz & NZ

Mav I myself find it impossible to put into any words how to describe the shonky practices more than some of our crooked RR comrades get away with >:(
I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.
