I have been assured that the pre fuel injected / electric start models are as all the major components are replicas of the 1958 model. I have not checked with MA

Speaking to a M/C shop owner mate they need the piston changed if you start pushing the revs as the Indian piston drops the front? skirt if the bike is ridden hard for any length of time. Wiseco make a piston for them apparently, slightly higher compression and no risk of blow ups.

I have been looking for a resonably priced one but they are not exactly thick on the ground. I think they would make a great 'entry' into Pre65 should be cheap and easy to repair and you would not have to worry about destroying a valuable bike.

I have a 92 Royal Endield 350 Bullet sitting in the shed, does this mean it is pre 65 eligable?
Cheers

If it has a 4 speed gearbox and right hand gearchange I think it would be according to GCR's of years past.
in fact if that is the case it should really be pre 60 legal.
not a certain on this but my research leads me to think this would be so

"this pulled from 2009 MOM's
for pre65 machine

    "    Enfield
All Enfield of India without modern
                      attributes which contravene the
                        general requirements.                "

But all my research indicates that no major changes were made to the design that India took on in 1954/55
till 1997/8

I scored this from my dad and have been staring at it wondering if it could be a cafe racer or a bobber project. Maybe i could just get it dirty instead.

Everything Noel said. They're a great budget entry into pre -65 and parts are everywhere. The Enfield below is obviously in dirt track trim but it doesn't take a lot of imagination to see it in motocross guise. Longer Betor forks, 21"Rickman Zundapp front wheel, alloy tank and a motocross seat and you've got a cool pre 65 bike. Sure, they're not going to outperform a Matchless or BSA single unless some serious money is spent but I reckon they wouldn't be as slow as you'd think. There's a few racing in Sweden and one or two in the UK to my knowledge

Even whichever side the gear change is on should be irrelevant on the Enfields, as some had been moved over in the pre 65 era.
Then there is parts, not a major stress attack to source ;)

I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

In the UK they have got them to fly.  I think they are in the Pre 60 class.  Big bore, methanol, good riders = flying machines.  They really go well.  Hitchcocks have all the tuning parts on the shelf.  They make a welcome change to the usual kit out there and you can buy an old road bike for very little and go racing on a budget with the option of being a front runner if you want to buy the go faster stuff.

Hows this for a tasty Royal Enfield Pre 65 special. It's a Swedish HVM powered by a Royal Enfield 500.

My research says NO because while it is still an iron barrell it has the electric start and also the 5 speed gearbox. The 5 spd G/B casing is a lot different to the '59 based 4 spd. Other than those two things it would be legal although I am sure there are others much better placed to comment.
