A great day! It was so good to ride there again on what I'd call a 'Real' track, long wide hilly and flowing. A little bit of fine tuning and it'll be awesome for next years Aussie titles.

The dust got a bit tough after lunch. TMCC said it normally makes it wet for practise then it will dry during the day and just have a bit of dust late in the avos, but our club asked thet it not be too wet for practise...can't have it both ways unfortunately :D  :D
Great day out tho. Sidecars were a bit of a procession as the difference in rider ability was shown up by a mighty track.

You're right John what a great day.

Hats off to the committee for thinking outside of the square and using tracks like Toowoomba.

It is also a lot less work for the committee to have our events at tracks like this.

Bring on the nats next year it will be huge.

When we have riders like Glen Bell and James Deakin at our events we must be doing something right.

Thanks to the Toowoomba Club for the track.

Pete.

That was absolutely brilliant!
Even rode the old pre~70 and had a ball...
Thanks to all that made the event possible...
Awesome track... :)

What he said.

Track was awesome, organisation was excellent.  Got to see some great racing as well, it's a brilliant spot for spectators. Even got to rescue Simo from a tree.

The last time I was at Echo valley was in the mid to late 70's for the mountain man series and it was always a fantastic track for both spectators and riders I have some photo's from then but the quality is very poor I am sure anyone who rode this track would have had a ball.
Regards Rod.

What a fantastic day! Thank you to the organisers and volunteers for a smooth running day. What an awesome track! A great thrill for me to be on the grid between Glen Bell and James Deakin. That would have been a great photo, with my little TM250 nestled between them. Of course I let them through to the first corner :)
Cheers. Ken

Even got to rescue Simo from a tree.

So that was you on the RM that pulled up to help me Mainline?

I didn't get a chance to find you and thank you again for doing that, I sincerely appreciated the help and the fact you stopped during the race to come to my aid.  Fan bloody tastic mate   8)

was that in the 250 Evo Simo?
on the 2nd downhill just after that funky left hander over the drop off?
if so, we were looking on from the start grid wondering how the hell someone got themselves into the thicket...
must of been a fun moment...

No worries mate,  i'd missed the start fixing my front brake and was riding sweep ;D

When I first saw you I couldn't see your bike ( it was too far into the shrubbery) and I thought it was odd that someone would be sitting in that spot spectating while wearing all their riding gear ;D

Yes it was a great day. Pity about the dust. I could tell in practice it was going to be dusty. It was getting really dangerous towards the end. You had to just back off if you didn't get a good start. A big thank you to the Toowoomba MX Club and especially Daniel Yung and Peter Stocker. It was also great to see some old members of the Toowoomba Motorcycle Club there as well, they ran Mountain Man MX. Next year will be 40 years since the first Mountain Man MX in 1974. I raced a Maico 250 in the main race, I was B Grade. Gary Flood won on a Bultaco 360 after his brother Trevor crashed at the end of the start straight trying to double the contours. He was on a Husqvarna. Echo Valley was my second favourite track after Maleny.

Yes mate definately a moment ... not so much fun though  :)  Basically coming down the hill as fast as I could and braking as late as I dared, the rear brake arm came off the spline.  Whilst the rear brake is only 30%, I needed everything the YZ had to offer in the braking department to pull it up.  Unfortunately I couldn't slow sufficiently to corner so went over the end of the track onto the track below (didn't look 6 metres apart either interestly enough) and then over the access track and into the trees about a metre or so up.  Still very sore but all good though.

Even got to rescue Simo from a tree.

Lol .. was I sitting up or laying down still checking my body parts?  Thanks again mate.  Glad you and those 2 other marshalls were there to extract it from the bushes  ;)
