From memory 1 of the little Hondas pulled 20 000+ rpm
Truly a time of pure racebike engineering

Here's the crank from their 50 twin.

Davey's mention of the Honda six prompted me to get this off the shed wall and scan it.

Mike the Bike on the 6 cylinder Honda, don't know where or when. I was pit crewing for a RR outfit at Bathurst in the '70s, Mike was there riding a Manx so, I asked him to autograph this pic for me.

When asked how the big H handled, SMBH reportedly replied " Like a three legged camel in loose sand"

I also remember seeing and hearing Kel Carruthers and Jim Redman together on their 250 Honda fours at Oran Park, in the '60s, bloody grouse sound.

Bloody near lost this prized memento in a house fire in 1979, hence slightly burnt top edge of the pic,

Foss

It's the Mallory Park Race of the Year 1967, and the Aussie pushing is Kevin Cass.

Thanks for the info on the pic, GD, After a big Bendigo nitro blowup I swapped my 250 Cotton Telstar ? roadracer to Kevin for an 84s JAP, wish I still had the Cotton, come to think of it wish I still had the JAP !!

Jerry, I rode the arse off that maico/ Honda , which I built myself and passing Elsinore 125 down the main straight at the Australian Titles at Barrabool., in the over 40`s 125, finally got 3rd overall in the final of VMX Title. Their is more to the story, It was a battle between John Budd, Elsinore, John Boag Zundapp, Me Maico, plus their was firko mate on a 1975 Suzuki, T bone as well. John Budd, ask me to keep Boagy away from him.
Which I did, but one lap I passed them all, it was great racing and good fun, But a week later after the meeting was all over I was accused of cheating.  ::)  by Firko, so to be fare to all I gave my title up and trophy back, also firko mate was cheating too, his suzuki being a 75 model. Which I didn't care at the time. 8)
Quickest bike, great to ride.
Gee, I wish I still had the maico.
