Not a bad buy at the starting bid price i would have thought, if all those parts were available at Yamaha (which we all know most are not) at todays rates i'd imagine that lot would cost around $600-$800. The "unobtainium tax" here seems pretty minimal, if i had a need for that stuff this thread would already be about a sold item!!  :D ;)

Cheers, Brendan

This would be perfect if you had a spare YZ250A or B roller like Johnny O has . You could build a fairly close engine (externally) using RT2MX or even RT1 cases, that cylinder and an aftermarket head or even the RT2MX head. The RT2MX gear ratios will be close enough and things like pipe, clutch cover, ignition and carby can be sourced aftermarket. You'd know it's not the real deal but nobody else would and as a racer it'd be fine.

Hi Firko, the YZ360A/B becomes a bit of a problem [unfortunately] to bolt onto the common old RT cases because the rear studs are about 5mm+ further out on both sides to make room for the wider reed block bugger it. Have a cylinder here off a YZ360B--the trick mono strap over the tank one [god i wish i had one & was luckily sponsored for a bit on a 250--till they found out how slow i was!!]. Anyway, my plan was [& still is] to use the cylinder one day, unfortunately i've turned into a bit of a "Gunna" gunna do it oneday. Plan is to plug the rear stud holes with some threaded alloy bar [or something] & drill & tap further out but was pondering the other day looking at some cases & can't be sure there's enough meat ["Gunna" do it anyway], i feel another project coming on. Mine is on 0.25 & by memory that's all they allow with the 'thin' original sleeve on these [no chrome like the good old 250] but i'll be risking 0.50 over if i have to. A guy actually 'gave' me the cylinder after he sold his YZ360B back when they were still pretty much the current model. Funny how you recall things but i remember the muddy meeting where he said 'i have a spare cylinder at home you can have' [followed him home didn't i], remember the meeting because i had a good day battling a guy called 'Brian Martin' who i think was [is!!] a kiwi that was living/riding in Australia & came back here for a bit--too long ago, but was a good guy to race with [& learn from if one could get close enough!!]. Past bed time. Cheers to all--daylight saving finished yesterday. ps Tell me if i'm wrong--i love an argument/discussion, just hate loosing haha.

i don't know much about the YZ360 motor but i've read it enough times that the YZ barrel stud spacings are different to the RT series.
question?
will the MX/DT 360 barrel bolt onto the YZ360 cases?

Hi, i got some parts forwarded by Jim Provine in the usa some time ago & was excellent to deal with. Recently saw him introducing himself on this forum somewhere & of course 'now i want to find it' 'i can't'. Email was [is?] [email protected]. Think i had DT1 gearbox internals forwarded on with minimal charge for his valuable service. Must have bought something off him initially i think & he mentioned this service. Thanks, Morley.

thanks Tony, jeez the forum's getting smaller [palmerston north]. 'Word' Moto-Tek reminds me of an ignition system i had about 30years ago on my kids kx80. Mounted it along under the seat rail on the RH side by memory, not sure why i put it back there but had a long yellow plug lead so maybe just taking up the slack--anyway--funny bit [not], went down the road at a good 10,000rpm & the lead got out of the coil & the coil arcked across to my inner thigh--never been the same since!!
