Must be a metal seat base yeah?

Otherwise, for plastic bases 6mm x 10/12mm crown staples is the go.

I would say staples if plastic but I used this on my chargers exterior door vinyl at first I thought this is crap as it didn't seem to set but the next day it went off well and it stuck nice and flat and looks the goods.

plastic ,but    i  have to cut a gap in the cover  to go around the mounting bracket.  for some reason the new seat base is a tight fit on the frame rails so i have to heat the base and bend it out slightly to fit the side covers  under the seat itself  hence a couple off dabs off glue in the corners and here and there

Contact glues generally retain their original colour when dry.  Yellow, red, green -  I've used drums of it over the years.  There's all different sorts out there but most do the same thing - generally stick like shit to a blanket!  Paint the glue on both surfaces - let air dry for a few minutes till touch dry - then press together. You only get one go!

Excess can be cleaned of with thinners (or turps will do). Won't hurt cover or base.

Paul, you can unbolt seat brackets, staple on cover (with glue too if you like) then bolt brackets back on. Just need to keep an eye on bolt tension after that.  If you want to get real fussy, unbolt the brackets after they leave an impression on the vinyl ( and glue has set) and them trim exactly to bracket shape!

Still reckon you should do it all with staples (with a bit of glue to make us all feel better  :D)

Very nice bike!!  Whats that gold donger thingy hanging over muffler?

G'day Paul,

Like I said I would here is the result yellow like the glue but I know of something that may work I haven't tried outside of its usual purpose and that is clear pvc glue you can buy a small bottle of that from your local plumbing store but like I said I haven't tried it on anything other than pvc to pvc but it is stuck to my work pants and has been stuck to my hands a lot too.

The stuff my local upholsterer uses is spray on and it is a yellowy looking glue to, thanks Michael.
