very nice work e74, what made you go down the path of modifying it with all the xyz goodies? i'm only asking this because your 250 in vmx mag was very original looking. i used dc plastics sidecovers on my 465g but like ted was complaining about with the xyz ones, i still had to elongate mounting holes, cut new holes for the seat bolt access and install the rubber spacers into them from the original yammy ones. are there better ones out there?

No Dj, The yz stuff I got was spot on, I have both new NOS yellow rear guard and a Repo and fitted to the bike almost impossible to tell apart.
Maybe they have a few different suppliers....I also have purchased some DC plastics for another bike and they were junk, very hard with a ripple through the plastic and a sort of sheene that prevented anything sticking.

NOS is the only way to go for the side plates, the repro guards are fine but I am using NOS and NOS preston petty's on my bikes, I have not found any repro side plates that I don't concider Junk.

My YZ250F is not restored, it is how it left the factory, all that has been replaced is the spokes, cables and the tyres.

Is IT490J the same ?  I've got one - has been polished and is a bit daggy - probably not what you are after.  There were a few on ebay the other day.  I think NW vintage cycles had a YZ250G - that any good - can't find it now.

Come in Cyclegod   ;D  If he can't find one there isn't one for sale (on Ebay anyway).

ahh, that explains why it looks so fantastic. well you're a stronger man than I E74, it definitely would be showing some signs of wear and tear if it was in my shed, the temptation to take it for a spin every now and again would get the better of me. ;D

and the 465, is it going to be a ride bike?

I think I've got a spare rear hub.

What diameter axle?
Bolts and nuts to hold the sprocket on, or studs and nuts?
Big brake, yes?

I just won a new 250G hub on Epay, so my old one will also be available soon - but its a small brake one, and I'm pretty sure the 465s have the big brake.

Yup, It has the big brake and the big (20mm) axle, I may be able to have it welded up and machined but it is probably easier to get a new hub, I'd say its the same as IT490's up to L model as well,..

Yup, got a 84 CR500 and a 1980 CR125/Mugen happening, the little mugen project will be a stunner, I have a lot of really trick era stuff for it along with some very sweet new stuff, should be a treat when finnished, then I have two 79 YZ400F's to do, one Reference resto and one full Period DG/ Fox fitted.

I also just won those works forks http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=012&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=220228709403&rd=1 from terry Good for my YZ250G so they are going to get fitted to that along with a new Ohlins shock and a Aluminium Factory tank that I have.  Hmmmm, Fun Times Ahead!
