What no marine carpet on the floor?

In my new line of work I get to see a few peoples garages and there is a lot of marine carpeting going on. Lots of guys have hoists, tyre machines, walls of Snap on.

I like a clinical workshop where everything has its place and everything is clean. Just built a seperate shed for all the future projects so that all the dirty stuff stays outside.

We sold a 30k 4 post hoist the other day to a guy (former iconic Aussie rocker) who wanted to see 'under' his Lambo, not work on it but just see under it  ;D

While those palaces are without doubt very nice  :) most blokes on the forum live and work in the real world and carry out their activities in sheds like Tims and Firkos  ;)

Yeah thats fair enough everyone has their own style of working. But with all your garage stuff, benches, storage, hoists being pretty affordable thanks to the Chinese, I get to see some really well decked out garages around the country owned by real world guys.  This is a great website with heaps of 'how to do its' which has a great range of both old school sheds and cleanliness freaks workshops.

Went to a farmers place the other day who collects Shelby Stangs...... lot of alloy chequer plate and marine  carpets

In the unlikley event i will ever have the sort of money to build one of those show palaces i would probably spend that money on some rare bikes that i would like to own and a new basic skyline  shed to keep the nice ones in ;) I suppose its about priorities, i will make do with my old molnar hoist , and coats tyre changer and dusty ole shed .

Only bloke i know with a shed like in those photos turned out to have a very different idea of what VMX is to me. But hey its his passion and he does it his way and enjoys it so each to their own  :)

Sing out when you want to upgrade them Bill I will cut you a deal  ;) Yeah I am not saying we all need a million bucks worth of gear, just its become affordable even for the average VMXer to have a pretty professional bench and storage system. I am working out of a 3mx 2m garden shed and front porch at the moment so keeping it real.

Firko whats the head on the bench in first photo left side infront of the RT2m cylinder ?
Iain, it's a Jones DT1 head as seen in the centre below

Webco, Jones and ACK DT1 heads.

Using the Jag bonnet as a work bench...nice touch
Nope, never. What you can see is a jug sitting on my toolbox trolley.

Hey Firko ,what were you working on to bend the handle on the vice? That is a big vice with a big handle
I've often wondered the same thing...I found the vice in a skip years ago, did some minor repairs and it's beeen a good and humble servant ever since.

Looks like a swingarm of the gods in the making on the purple box in the first photo as well Firko.
Nothing so exotic, it's merely an old BSA B44 swingarm that I was doing some work on for a mate.

I like the lived in feel of a well used shed. I have a mate who's into street rods and his garage is done up like a fifties milk bar, juke box and all. As cool as it is for parties, it doesn't seem right to actually work in it. My shed looks messy (and I guess it is) but I know where nearly everything is and I've got most of the stuff a proper blokey shed needs. I'm an incurable tool and gizmo junky so there's no shortage there and I've got shitloads of storage thanks to old shelving from a closed down Black Stump restaurant and 8 used $10 filing cabinets off eBay. My main bench started life as a part of a sheet folding machine at an industrial laundry and my small stainless steel engine building bench was once used in that same Black Stump restaurant for food preparation.  I've got a full sized 'fridge with 40 years worth of sticker history and a bunch of boutique beer and cider, a classic Marantz sound system and best of all in this stinkin' summer, air conditioning. I've also got a 3m x 3m garden shed for the future projects and I have some other bikes at a mates place. I'm soon to build another 3 metre garden shed to hold my completed bikes in one place away from all of the possible mishaps in the garage.

I would like a flash shed, but I can't put stuff away, it does my head in. Tim and Firko's sheds are super neat, tidy and organised compared to mine.

Had double garage just for the bikes at my last place which was real luxury, its pretty tidy and certainly not a real manly shed

For benches I like to have a couple of rolling tool boxes, one for tools and one for parts, work bench and tear down bench are also handy, and parts washer that doubles as bench top. Any grinding and welding or other dirty shit happens outside in the driveway.

This is my "Man Cave", the further you go in the darker and scarier it gets.

This picture was taken on one of those rare occasions when it is relatively clean and tidy.

Why do things the easy way, when with a bit of effort you can really make it difficult for yourself!!
