EDC aka Eltham Dirt Bikes. Looks same as a CT175 one hanging in my shed.  Firko , John Burrows was not a part of that business as far as I remember. Two brothers owned and ran it.(notice the old age stopping the name memory...) Just open any early Trail and track mag for the peoples name .  ;)and to add insult to injury I grew up in Diamond St. Eltham..... If my spotty memory has not faded compleatly didn't John Burrows have his business in high st Malvern , Ossa Im sorta sure ?

One shop down from the corner of High St and Glenferrie Rd in Malvern. John and his brother ran the shop, good blokes and willing to help out anyone. I had bought my KTM from Athol Patterson in Springvale and my Maicos from Stacker in Bell St Heidelberg. My sister worked for the solicitors just around the corner from John's shop and had done some conveyancing for him. Even though hadn't bought a bike from him he helped me out a couple of times when I had some mechanical probs as a young fellow in sub juniors and mum had taken me to the races. Don't think that is around too much nowadays.

The SDR brought over here in WA off Gumtree had a Burrows shop sticker still on the side plate .

what is the go with these EDC pipes on the good - bad scale. where do they sit? i have one on a going bike . I have not tried another pipe yet so have nothing to compare it to. I was going to tweak it for a project, any feed back would be great.

My only knowledge of them is a T&T dyno article comparing EDC, Peacemaker, Basani, Hooker & std Yam pipes on a std RT3. I've never used one but T&T concluded it won on both performance & low noise: 

"The object was to find the best pipe for the serious trail-cum-enduro rider. This meant weighing up flexibility against top-end against noise against price... there can be no doubt about the winner. EDC pipe is number one by a mile... It has the most power down low, mid range, & up top"

It peaked at 6000rpm & dropped away quickly after that, but made more horses at 6000 than the US pipes did at 7000 (their peak).  MUCH better in mid range, in fact from 3000 to 6500.

You've tugged at my fast fading memory John ....as much as T&T used to shit me no end, they often produced some worthy stuff. I've got that issue somewhere here and remember thinking at the time that they should have tested a standard GYT pipe as a comparison base. I also thought I had an EDT pipe here but it's something different again. It's very well made, much better than the often shoddy standards of the time. I've just reveived a Jemco downpipe for my 360 flat tracker and it sure looks the goods. As soon as I can sort my camera/computer download problem I'll run off soime snaps and post it and one or two of the mystery pipe to see if any of the old hands might recognise it.

Here's a trio of DT1/RT1 aftermarket pipes I have...........
I've actually got three Torque Industries pipes, a DT1 pipe like that in the photo below, another for an RT2MX and one for my little Suzuki TS90. I don't know if they produce the performance gains they claimed but they're definitely the best finished and most well tucked in of the DT1 pipes.
                                                            
This is a Bassani identical to mine. They were the most popular along with EDT pipes back in the day.
                                                        
Below: My Cheney RT1 has a Pro-Form pipe made for a YZ360A that I had to cut and shut to fit the Cheney airbox tunnel. Even though it's a tad modern looking, it suits the Cheney layout perfectly and is a beautifully made bit of kit.

thanks jc. next questions - did they make the same pipe for dt and rt. has anyone spotted any difference between dt and rt pipes with other makers. i think i have read in other posts there is no difference between the gyt pipes.

I'd think they'd be the same pipe for DT as RT which may mean the power peak on the 250 would be at lower rpm than you'd expect/like for a 250. The US pipes maybe better on 250's w power peak at higher rpm.
