TM185 Sidepipe
« on: January 12, 2013, 10:29:45 am »
There you go bikes don't have to be all billet and over inflated bling ..... my original TS185 was recycled into long travel TM sidepipe 30 years ago, and here she is revived and still with the power and handling ;)

Built tough for Taranaki Endurocross  ;D

TS185 and power and handling should never be used in the same sentence.

Ah but this has patina .... same paint as it left the factory with, plus I have too many garage queens as it is so this is my rider along with my CR250RB which is ready to party also. ;)

At ther risk of repeating myself, that's a sweet little bike CG. I might be wrong but I think Jens Olsen may have won an Aussie or State title on that same combo back in the early 70's. He still races something similar, often instead of his RH250 which must say something.

Its interesting frame is pretty rough as was used as farm bike finally like all good Kiwi bikes, however it is interesting it has TM125 numbers but very well done LTR conversion from back in the day, came from Hurleyville, yep there is such a place. TS185 engine makes it 10 times easier to ride than actual TM125 screamer. I swapped the motors when I was about 16 from my first ever bike which was TS185...so arc welding special with no cash and boyish enthusiasm.

Used to ride it to work every day, plus occasionally 60 kms from Hawera to New Plymouth to race at Fitzroy, also it has done two day enduro back of Stratford. It made the journey a number of times with lighting kit to take me to trade school. To my knowledge it is on the same piston and rings, been registered but never had warrant of fitness.  ;D

If you are coming next weekend feel free to have a blast .... the biggest shocker riding it again is the front brake or lack there on, still back in the 70s nobody touched the front brake anyhow :o
