With all due respect and I realize that it's not my era but that thing looks as if it was abandoned by its parents, taken in by a tribe of The Uglies who let it play with their kids in the ugly trees where-upon it constantly fell out of them hitting every branch of said trees on the way down all its early years until reaching puberty where it went off to Ugly University to major in barf, driving the porcelain bus and the technicolour yawn.

   Maybe that's what happened to the frame - it got a log felled on it at some stage  :(  and those sort of shenanigans should be kept behind the iron curtain :-\
