Hall of Fame
« on: November 25, 2012, 08:24:13 am »
The other day, I was putting photo`s up on my facebook and Daryl Beatties Page, and Az Mike`s  Page, and seeing Jim Ellis being inducted to the hall of fame, and started thinking why hasn`t Australia got a
Hall of fame for the History of Motocross, speedway, Trials, Enduro, Rally Cross,Road Racing,Short Circuit, here in Australia, or does it. ????? But we don`t know about it.
Well I think there should be a venue here to comemorates all Australian Champions and the workers behind the seens.

Thats Right, why hasn`t MA done this years ago, It shouldn`t be at the MA office either, to small. MA, MV its a priority owed to Australia motorcycle History, and Riders, Volunteers, clubs, throughout Australia.
Look what footballers get for their efforts from the AFL, and they just play with their balls.

MA didn't even have lists of OZ champs.
You left Short Circuit ( DT ) out Dave, it was just as big if not bigger in OZ during the 60's - 70's.

Can't help feeling if it did exist it would be a shell of an accurate representation like the AMA equivalent, where plenty of hangers-on, helpers and never-was associates of those in positions of influence have been swept into the list at the expense of legendary racers with far more legitimate claims to inclusion.

In my opinion...

Right on Goof, M.A. would honour and praise their office bearers and committee's before they would honour the riders they represent....

Short Circuit - Herb Jefferson, Kevin Fraser, Keith Davies, Bill MacDonald, Chris Watson, Paul Caslick.

Speedway - Lionel Van Praag, Bluey Wilkinson, Jack Young, Jason Crump, Chris Holder.

And plenty more that wouldn't be out of place.

To me the list should include guys like Geoff Eldridge and Tony Kirby for their contributions through media as well as John Hederics for his contributions to the long distance aspect of the sport.
